Managing Application Components

Application may provide a set of components (Services). There are the one top-level service (Application), child services (Application Services).

A customer may be allowed to manage application components (Application Services) using the appropriate tabs of application instance.

Some components, like the Application Users, may have multiple instances, other components, like the Mobile Access – a single instance only (per Application User). Thus, there are two types of service:

  • Single-instance service. Single instance of service can be created. In CCP, the service instance is created when service is activated and this instance is removed when service is deactivated. When the instance exists, its settings can be viewed or modified by customer.
  • Multi-instance service. Several instances of service can be created. A customer can create or remove several service instances. List of all service instances is displayed in the appropriate tab in CCP. When the instances exist, their settings can be viewed or modified by a customer.

Application may allow different components to be be linked with each other. The link between components means that one component can use another one. For example a Hosted PBX application may link phone numbers with auto-attendants, users with call groups and events with schedules. Another example is a Mail Service application where mailboxes can be linked with distribution lists and anti-spam or anti-virus components.

Which types of components can be linked together is defined by application. Customers and service users can select which particular components are linked (service user can do it for own components only). For example, when creating a user in the Hosted PBX application, the customer can select which particular phone number will be used by this user: which phone number component is linked with user one. Additionally, it allows selecting either existing component is linked or new one is created specially for this link (the existing phone number is used or a new one is created).

Each operation under a service instance, including linking, creates a set of the appropriate tasks. To see these tasks, go to Operations > Tasks.
