Tax Category is a group of plan or resource categories to which a Tax is applied (for example, "Telecommunication services", or "Software and licenses"). Tax categories are useful when the provider must charge different taxes for different products: for example, providing web hosting must be charged VAT 20%, and downloading software must be charged VAT 10%.
To add a tax category:
- In Billing control panel, go to System > Settings > Taxation > Tax Zones and Tax Categories > Tax Categories tab. The list of tax categories presented in your system appears on the screen (empty by default).
- Click Add New Tax Category. The adding new tax category dialog window is displayed.
- Input a tax category name as it will be referred to in Billing into the Tax Category ID field.
- Input a free-form description of the category into the Description field.
- Click Save to finish adding the new tax category.
