Configuring Custom Data Types

The custom data type functionality is designed to enable you to customize attributes or parameters of a Universal payment system by creating additional options for choosing values of the Value Type attribute parameter. Each created Custom Data Type will be added to the drop-down list for the Value Type parameter value selection (refer to the Creating Attributes section and to the Configuring Parameters of Universal Payment System section.)

For each Custom Data Type, you can configure a number of options so that they will be shown as a drop-down list of possible values of the custom parameter for which the related data type is created.

Example

If you want your customer to specify the Industry to which his or her business belongs when placing an order in the online store, you need to:

  1. Create a corresponding custom data type, for example, Account Industry.
  2. Sequentially add to this data type all the possible options for selecting attribute values, for example, Advertising, Computing, Trading, and so on.
  3. Create a corresponding attribute of the account type with the Account Industry specified as the Value Type, and to name it, for example Account Industry.

The Account Industry filed with a drop-down list for selection of a value will be shown to customer in the customer information form on orders placement.
