Overuse Period Calculation in case of Plan Switch

In some cases, the resource usage for the date of Change Order placement may look to be billed twice, but it is not. Consider the following example.

  1. A customer has a subscription with a resource overused. The customer places a Change Order to switch the subscription's service plan. In this Change Order there will be the following detail:

Resource overuse for the period from <Last billing date> to <Date of CH order placement>.

  2. On the subscription's next billing date the subscription will be billed, and in the Billing Order details there the customer will see the following detail:

Resource overuse for the period from <Date of CH order placement> to <Date of Billing>.

And this looks like the customer is billed twice for this date: <Date of CH order placement>.

Actually, the overuse in this case is calculated as follows:

    • In the Change Order, the resource overuse is collected for the period from <Last billing date 00:00> to <Date of CH order placement exact time>.
    • In the Billing Order, the resource usage is collected for the period from <Date of CH order placement exact time> to <Billing date 00:00>.

This way, resource usage is collected for exactly 1 month.
