Activating the AD Sync Service

During the provisioning, the AD Sync service is deactivated. The account owner must activate it manually. During the activation, a staff member is created with special rights restricted to a single subscription and synchronization operations privilege.

To activate the AD Sync service, carry out the following steps:

  1. Go to More Services > Directory Synchronization > Service > Activate link.
  2. Read the Disclaimer message. Select the I understand and agree checkbox and click Next.
  3. Choose either to use the existing staff member password or enter a new password for the staff member who will be granted with rights to perform synchronizations.

Note: If you have more than one existing service user with the rights restricted to managing this subscription and having the 'Customer Directory Integration Synchronization' privilege, select one from the menu.

Select the Synchronize password and Synchronize contacts checkboxes if you want to track and synchronize user password and contacts changes in an external AD with CloudBlue Commerce. Click Next to continue.

  4. Verify the entered data and click Finish. You can also click Show Password to display the entered password for the Web Service staff member once again, and write it down or remember it. Note that after the wizard is completed, you will not be able to see this password anywhere.

Important: The web service password is required to set up an Active Directory Synchronization agent on your network. You might need to set up several Synchronization agents if you have more than one Active Directory domain now or if you plan to extend your forest in the future. So we recommend that you remember this password. If you forget it, you will be able to change it anytime, but you will also need to reconfigure all the installed Synchronization agents.

After completing the wizard, check that a new staff member with the corresponding role was created: Go to My Account > Account Data > Users.
