Activating AD Sync Service
Being provisioned, the AD Sync service is deactivated and account owner should activate it manually. During the activation, a staff member will be created with special rights restricted to this subscription only and synchronization operations privilege.
To activate the AD Sync service, execute the following steps:
- Go to More Services > Directory Synchronization > Service.
- At the displayed screen, click on the Activate link.
- Read the Disclaimer message. If you wish to proceed, mark the I understand and agree check box and click Next.
- Choose either to use the existing staff member password or enter the new password for the staff member, who will be granted with rights to perform synchronizations.
Note: If you have more than one existing Service user with the rights restricted to manage this subscription and having the 'Customer Directory Integration Synchronization' privilege, you can select the one from the drop-down list.
Mark the Synchronize password and Synchronize contacts check boxes if you wish to track and sync user password and contacts changes in external AD with CloudBlue Commerce. Click Next to continue.
- At the last Wizard screen verify the entered data and click Finish. You can also click the Show Password button to to display the entered password for the Web Service staff member once again and write it down or remember it. Note that after the Wizard is complete, you will not be able to see this password anywhere.
Important: Web Service Password is required to setup Active Directory Synchronization agent in your network. It may be necessary to setup several Synchronization agents if you have more than one Active Directory domain now or if you plan to extend your forest in the future. So we recommend to remember this password. If you happen to forget it, you will be able to change it anytime, but you will need to reconfigure all the installed Synchronization agents in this case.
After the Wizard completes, check that a new staff member with corresponding role is created. Go to My Account > Account Data > Users.
