Setting Up Primary Email Address

If you have more than one email address in a mailbox, only one of them will act as the primary email address. This address appears in the From field of email messages sent from Outlook or OWA.

Note: The primary email address can be used as service user's login. Refer to the Changing Service User's Login section.

By default, the first created email address in the mailbox is set up as primary. However, you can select another email address of the same mailbox or specify any custom email address to be used as primary.

To set up another email address of the same mailbox as a primary one, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to Exchange > Mailboxes.
  2. Select the mailbox you want to change the primary email address for by clicking on its Display name.
  3. Move to the Email addresses tab.
  4. Click on the Change button located in the Primary Email Address area.
  5. In the Mailbox email address option button select the Email address option. If you wish to use custom primary Email address, refer to the Custom Primary Email Address topic.
    • Click Next.
  6. Click on the Set as primary email address link located near the email address you want to set as primary.
    • Select the Synchronize Service User's login with primary email address check box if you want the primary email address to be used as the service user's login.
  7. Click Finish. Another email address of the same Exchange mailbox is set to primary.
