Using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol allows to protect the information that a web browser and a web server exchange with each other. Using the secure SSL protocol is an industry standard for e-Commerce and online service websites, where visitors submit their credit card numbers and other sensitive data.

Note: On Apache Web Hosting, there a special directory is reserved for storing the secure website content – the webspace/httpsdocs directory.
