Editing Resources and Limits for a Service Template
Service templates define a scope of CloudBlue Commerce resources (resource types) that customers can use after subscribing to them. Once you have created your service template, you can add new resources to it or edit the limits of existing ones. Editing resources in the service template may affect all subscriptions based on this service template.
Note: A billing system (for example, Billing) does not allow you to edit resources of the service template while it is activated. Therefore, before editing the service template, make sure that it is in inactive state. Otherwise, you cannot change the set of the resource types in the service template. To make it inactive, click Deactivate on the service template's General tab. After you finish editing, activate it again.
To add more resource types to your service template:
- Go to Products > Service Templates and click a name of the service template you want to add resources to.
- Deactivate the service template if its current state is active by clicking Deactivate.
- Open the Resources tab > Limits subtab.
- Click Add resources.
- Choose the resources to add to the service template by selecting check boxes opposite to the resources names and click Submit.
-
Set limits for the new resources included into the service template or mark them as unlimited. When you finish setting limits, click Submit.
Note: Usage limit defined for resource types based on the Application Counter resource class is the total value for all users under the same subscription. This means that a customer may distribute resources between service users by defining the maximum usage amount for each service user. The customer cannot exceed the total defined in the subscription for any of their service users. However, the opposite is true when the limit is defined by an external system.
-
If you do not use Billing, go to the General tab of the service template profile and click the Apply Template Limits or Apply Template Limits and Parameters link.
- Apply Template Limits. By clicking Apply Template Limits you can add and remove resources to and from the list of resources of the service template, or change the input limits for the existing resources. The resources may be provisioned and unprovisioned to and from the subscription depending on the resource types in the subscription.
- Apply Template Limits and Parameters. By clicking Apply Template Limits and Parameters you can migrate the respective subscription to the new service template by provisioning and unprovisioning new resources and their limits to the subscription. The resources may be provisioned and unprovisioned to and from the subscription depending on the resource types in the subscription.
The necessary resources have been added to the service template, and you can now use this service template with the modified resources content.
To edit the resources limits within your service template, perform the following operations:
- Go to Products > Service Templates and click the name of the service template to manage its resources.
- Open the Resources tab. If necessary, by clicking the resource type, you can proceed to the management page of the resource type, where you can view the resource's parameters and edit them if necessary. Changes applied to the resource type values may affect the services already provisioned based on the current service template.
- Click Edit.
- Change limits for the resources included in the service template or mark them as unlimited. When you complete setting limits, click Submit.
- If you do not use Billing, go to the General tab of the service template page and click the Apply Template Limits or Apply Template Limits and Parameters link.
Now the resources in your service template have new limits.
Please note that the Apply Template Limits and Apply Template Limits and Parameters links are not available if you use Billing. If you do not have Billing, you will find the Apply Template Limits and Apply Template Limits and Parameters links on the General tab of the service template page. If Billing is used, you need to manage resource limits and parameters from the appropriate Billing service plan. Please see Billing Provider's guide >> Managing Subscriptions > Handling Subscriptions > Synchronizing Subscriptions for details.
Note: If CQmail Hosting is included in the service template, you can limit its resource usage by editing it at Products > Service Templates > [Service Template Name] > Resources tab > Limits subtab. Independently of the limit unit you put for CQmail Hosting and the quantity of domains using CQmail Hosting, the resource usage is always equal to 1. Other resources and subresources can be limited during service template creation and work according to the limit unit you assign them.
