What Is Resource Type

When we mention the term resources, we mean certain services a customer may use: webspace, traffic, databases, file manager, and so on. These services are presented in CloudBlue Commerce as Resource Classes. They are included in CloudBlue Commerce distribution and their number is limited. Examples of the resource classes are as follows:

  • Shared hosting Apache. This resource class enables you to create websites with a minimum set of features such as SSL and SSI support, Custom error docs, Web Gallery and others.
  • MySQL databases. This resource class lets customers use MySQL databases with their websites.

We do not operate with the resource classes directly. They are just basic resource entities. To make use of them, one should create Resource Types based on the Resource Classes.

The difference between resource class and type is that resource classes are functionalities provided by the system. The limitations on this functionality and where this resource should be provided are defined in the resource type along with some other parameters. Therefore, you can create several resource types based on the same resource class. These resource types differ in limits, and this allows you to include them in different service templates.
