Managing Domain Hosting Offers and Subscriptions

Billing provides all functionality needed for domain subscriptions sales.

You can provide domain registration in zones like "provider.com" or become a reseller of a registrar. You can register new zones like "provider.com".

To start with domain registration sales, the following configuration is needed:

  • Configure registrar plug-in(s) you want to work with.
  • For each registrar configure domain zones (TLDs) you intend to provide registration in. Services supported (transfer, update name servers and contacts, IDNs registration, domain lock) are configured per domain zone.
  • Prepare domain service templates.
  • Create service plans on the basis of domain service templates.

As soon as you go live with domain registration sales, you may need to monitor domain registration and transfer provisioning. Domain registration and transfer provisioning can fail due to invalid settings or data. Billing provides functionality for provisioning failure investigation. After failure cause is located you can correct invalid settings or data and resubmit order for provisioning.

Important! Country-Code Domains Registration:

Some registrars (normally, but not necessarily the ones that provide country-code top level domains) require that a domain owner or/and administrator must reside in registrar country, for example it is not allowed to register domains in ca. top level domain for persons without Canadian citizenship. If an account contacts do not match these requirements (another country), the necessity arises to manually specify a domain owner contacts during domain registration.

Please see the Using Custom Domain Owner and Administrator Contacts section later in this chapter for detailed description of pre-configuration needed for custom domain contacts use.
