Dedicated Database Nodes

If you want to host user databases on separate shared physical or virtual database servers, you can do so in any of the following ways.

Deploy a new WebHosting Plesk database node

Attach an existing database server

Add a clean server (that only has a Linux-based operating system installed) to the CloudBlue Commerce infrastructure, instruct CloudBlue Commerce to install MySQL 5.5 or PostgreSQL 9.2 on it, and use it as a dedicated database server.

To add a dedicated database service node:

  • Go to Infrastructure > Service Nodes > Add New Node, and select either MySQL 5.5 database server or PostgreSQL 9.2 database server. After you select the appropriate role, CloudBlue Commerce automatically installs the database management system of your choice and connects the node to the WebHosting Plesk module. CloudBlue Commerce can automatically deploy only MySQL 5.5 and PostgreSQL 9.2 on dedicated database nodes.

Attach an existing standalone database server that already has the necessary database management system installed.

You can attach database servers that run the following database management systems:

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008 R2 SP2
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012 SP1
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012 SP3
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2014 SP1
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2016
  • MySQL 5.1-5.7
  • MySQL Community Edition 5.5, 5.6, 5.7
  • PostgreSQL 8.4-9.5
  • MariaDB 5.5, 10.0, 10.1

To attach an existing database server:

  1. Go to Services > WebHosting Plesk > Shared Database Servers > New.
  2. Configure firewalls to allow connections between the database server, the management node, and web hosting service nodes.
  3. Configure the database server to allow connections from the WebHosting Plesk Websites Manager node and web hosting service nodes. For example, if you need to configure a MySQL server, refer to the article at https://kb.cloudblue.com/en/133255.

Note: The option to re-attach service nodes (in CloudBlue Commerce Provider Panel > Infrastructure > Service Nodes > node's host name > Reregister) is not available for Windows-based service nodes.
