Configuring MPN Settings

Note: MPNs can be imported automatically to CloudBlue Commerce if certain requirements are satisfied.

To operate on prices in CloudBlue Commerce, you must map service profile properties to columns in a price file. Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) settings specified in a service profile type are used as an MPN source when creating BSS resources.

To map resources and columns in a CSV file for an MPN definition, complete the following steps:

  1. In CloudBlue Commerce, go to ServicesApplications.
  2. Select the required application and go to the Service Profiles tab.
  3. Click MPN Settings to configure the mapping.

  • In the left column, select the properties of the Service Profile resource that contains the MPN value. For Connect-based applications, the Service Profile type is ItemProfile, and the mpn field is the MPN value.

  • In the left column, you can set the name of the column in the CSV file that contains the MPN values, which you will use for PCM Price Configuration Manager and Product Modeler (Vendor Catalog Extraction mode). If you do not plan to use PCM, do not fill in the CSV Column Name field.

  • These settings are needed to ensure automatic propagation of MPN data to BSS resources when creating new resources or when using the Load MPN from Connection function.

  • An application can contain several Service Profile types. For example, for Microsoft 365, there are License and Add-On. In this case, you need to select the appropriate MPN for each type.

  • An MPN value can be composite. It may consist of an SKU value and License ID. In this case, you need to configure all the corresponding properties: Service Profile property 1, Service Profile property 2, and so on. During the propagation to the BSS resource, the data from these fields will be concatenated with a colon as a separator.

  • You configure these settings only once, before you begin working with MPNs. Certain applications such as Microsoft 365 contain default MPN values. They are set automatically during the installation of an application or during upgrade, if other MPN settings were not specified earlier.

  • You can change the name of the column containing MPN in the CSV file at any time; however, we do not recommend doing so after you start using it because it might redefine MPN in resources that already contain MPN.
