A tax category is linked to resources through a resource category. Taxes from tax category attached to resource category are levied only on additionally purchased resources. All the resource categories assigned to the tax category are listed under the Resource Categories tab within a tax category properties.
Please note that a new resource category cannot be created on assignment to a tax category. A resource category is to be first added from Products > Resources > Resource Categories.
To assign a tax category to a resource category:
- In Billing control panel, go to System > Settings > Taxation > Tax Zones and Tax Categories > Tax Categories tab. The list of tax categories presented in your system appears on the screen.
- Select a tax category where you want to add a tax to by clicking on the respective link in the Tax Category ID or in the Description fields. The tax category properties appear on the screen.
- Switch to the Resource Categories tab. The list of resource categories currently included in the tax category appears on the screen (empty by default).
- Click Add New Resource Categories to Tax Category. The list of resource categories that you can select to be added appears on the screen.
- Select resource category(ies) you want to add to the tax category by checking respective boxes to the left of the ID field.
- Click Add Selected Resource Category to finish adding new resource categories.
Note: The same procedure is used on assigning tax category to plan categories, through the Plan Categories tab.
