Managing Domain Name Servers

The Name Servers section of the Domain Information screen displays IP addresses of name servers where the domain zone is stored. Name servers information for a domain is stored at registrar a domain was registered.

Note: Name servers management is available only in case registrar supports and allows online name servers information update. In addition, this option is available for domains in Registered status only.

In case of domain transfer, name servers update is performed depending on registrar a domain is transferred from.

Important: name servers update after domain transfer: If a domain has been kept at SIDN or InterNetX, the information about new name servers is sent together with domain transfer request and thus, name servers update is performed automatically. In addition, name servers information can be optionally included in a domain transfer request in case a domain has been kept at Nicline or OpenSRS. Other registrars do not support online name servers update and thus, manual name servers update is required.

Manual name servers update consists in updating name servers to registrar using customer control panel controls.

To specify other name servers for a domain, click Manage Name Servers. Enter new name servers IP addresses. To send this information to the registrar, click Update DNS Info to the Registrar.

If a third-party name servers are used for a domain (i.e., different from the ones used by domain subscription vendor), the Change Name Servers to Preferred button is shown. This button provides the ability of sending vendor name servers information to domain registrar. As a result, a domain is passed from third-party name servers to vendor DNS. After you click the Change Name Servers to Preferred button, the current name servers used for a domain and name servers offered by vendor are displayed. To move a domain to vendor name servers and send this information to domain registrar, click Confirm.
