Preparing Domain Service Template
To add a domain service template:
- Go to Products > Service Plans and then open the Service Templates tab. The list of service templates available appears on the screen.
- Click Add New Service Template. The adding new service template wizard starts.
- Select the Domains Management service by selecting respective option to the left of the ID column.
- Click Next to proceed to the next wizard step. Fill out the form:
- Input a service template name into the Name field. Use a maximum descriptive name as it will ease further manipulations with the service template.
- Input a service template version into the Version field. Each time the template is changed, its version can be increased at will. No roll back to previous versions is implemented.
- Select the Active box to make the template available for creating service plans.
- You may require a service plan based on this template to be sold only if customer has already purchased another (parent) service plan. E.g. you sell the domain registration service and want customer to host on your hardware nodes (servers) only. To mark the service template to be used for creating up-sale service plans, select the Parent Subscription Required checkbox.
- You may configure Operations not to destroy services if customer cancels his subscription. However, in terms of domain registration service, not destroying services means that you further provide them in full (as domain registration is a record in your DNS server, customer's domain name will still be resolved even when his subscription is canceled). It is strongly recommended that you either take payments in advance for a full service period (and not make refund on subscription cancellation) or select the Destroy Service on Cancel checkbox.
- Click next to the Domain Zone field. From the window that opens, select a domain zone in which domains are to be registered. If you want to sell domains in several domain zones, you need to create several service templates – one for each zone.
- Select Popular TLD check box to make End-Customer and Reseller Marketplaces and UX1 for Customers search for available domain names by default in this domain zone.
When a customer searches for a domain name in End-Customer and Reseller Marketplaces or UX1 for Customers, they will get the results in the following way:
- The FQDN searched by the customer – in the first row.
A list of FQDNs in TLDs that have the Popular TLD attribute – in the next rows.
Note: You can enable or disable the Popular TLD attribute on the Technical Properties tab of a domain service plan later.
- Select how Billing should manage name servers for domain transfer:
- Move domain to Provider's name servers. Billing changes domain name servers to provider's ones.
- Leave existing name servers. Billing keeps current domain name servers.
- Select, whether name servers for the domain registration service are specified explicitly or acquired automatically by selecting respective option in the Name Servers Source Type group.
- Use Operations for DNS hosting is the preferred scenario. A respective domain subscription will be created on Operations side; name servers will be set up by Operations.
- Use the following name servers. You will need to input name servers manually; no subscription will be created on Operations side.
- If you have selected to specify servers explicitly, input the primary, secondary, third (optionally), and fourth (optionally) DNS names or IP addresses into the Primary Name Server, Secondary Name Server, Third Name Server, and Fourth Name Server fields respectively.
- If you have selected to acquire server addresses automatically, click next to the Name Servers Source field. From the window that opens, select a source. For now, the only source that is supported is Operations.
- When finished, proceed to the next wizard step by clicking Next.
-
(Optional) The following screen lists optional domain resources. If no domain resources are configured, this step is skipped. Mark resources to add to the template by selecting respective checkboxes next to the resource names.
Note: At this point the template is already created. You are only adding resources to it.
- Click Finish.
Note: A domain service template contains required parameter DomainID by default. When customer purchases a service plan containing domain services, he is prompted to input a domain name on one of the stages of service plan ordering. Parameter can not be deleted manually.
