To promote a service plan:
- Open Products > Marketing > Promotions. The list of promotions available (if any) appears on the screen.
- Select a promotion you want a service plan to be subjected to by clicking on the respective link in the Name column. Selected promotion properties appear on the screen.
- Proceed to the Promoted Plans tab. The list of promotion periods (if any) appears on the screen.
- Click Add New Promoted Plan. The adding new promotion period dialog starts.
Setting promotion parameters
- Click
next to the Service Plan field. From the window that opens, select a service plan you want to promote.
- From the Subscription Period group of options, select the subscription period to be promoted:
- To apply promotion to all subscription periods, choose Any period.
- To apply promotion to a particular subscription period, choose One Period. Click
next to the field that appears below the One period option. From the window that opens, select the promoted subscription period.
Note: promotion for 'One Period' of service plan overrides the 'Any Period' promotion. When the final price is calculated, Billing first searches for a discount applied to a particular subscription period selected by a customer, and if such discounts were not found, Billing looks for discount set for any subscription period of a service plan.
- Enter the maximum number of subscriptions which will get promotion pricing for a single parent subscription into the Per parent subscription limit field. It restricts the number of discounted up-sales for a single parent subscription. This limit is not applicable to promotions by promotion code.
- From the Promotion Period group of options, select the promoted period duration:
- Choose Same as Subscription Period to apply discounted price to all the discounted subscription period.
- Choose Custom Period to apply discounted price to a custom period that can be different from subscription period. Enter the period duration into the field that appears below the Custom Period field. Select the time units (Days, Months Years) from the list.
Note:
1. If the Custom Period is selected, the subscription expiration date will be calculated based on the selected period; that is, the custom period overrides the subscription period (for example, if a subscription was purchased for the period of 1 month but there is a promotion for a custom period of 3 month, the subscription's period will be 3 months, and its expiration date will be after 3 months from its starting date).
2. The custom period must not be be less than the subscription period.
3. The promotion prices will be applicable till the subscription renewal. When renewing the subscription, the promotion is only applicable if the Applicable to Renewal option is set to Yes.
4. The renewal fee is taken only while renewing subscription with the Charge Before Billing Period billing model. This behavior does not depend on promotions applied to the subscription.
- Type promoted prices or discount in percents for setup, subscription, renewal, and transfer fees (the latter applicable to domains only) for promoted period into Setup Fee, Subscription Fee, Renewal Fee, and Transfer Fee fields respectively:
- Promotion Price. Depending on the selection in the Price Type list, the price can be a fixed amount or a discount percent applied to a promoted period retail price.
- Price Type. Choose % to specify discount in percents. Enter the discount percent into the Promotion Price field. Choose Fixed Price to specify a particular promoted price applied to a promoted subscription period. The currency used in Billing at the moment is also specified here.
- Check the Include If Zero box to make prices fields that have zero value displayed among order details. By default zero value fields are not displayed.
- If necessary, input a free-form description into the Fee Description field next to every price field. This description is shown in details of orders and invoices. If this field is empty, description is taken from subscription period details.
Note: This number of discounted subscriptions is also restricted by the Subscription Limit and the Per Customer Limit (both set in the General tab). The customer will not get discounted prices if any of these four limits is reached.
