Putting Subscriptions on Hold and Releasing Them
There are three types of hold for a subscription:
-
Administrative Hold: The subscription service is stopped, and placing new orders or processing incomplete ones is forbidden.
Administrative Hold is used for the issues not related to money. For example, if your customer purchased a webspace and placed restricted content on it, you can put such a subscription on hold.
-
Credit Hold: The subscription service is stopped and placing new orders or processing incomplete ones is forbidden.
Credit Hold is used for the issues related to money. For example, when your customer didn't pay for services on time.
- Credit+Administrative Hold: A combination of statuses.
Note: If an account is put on any of the above types of hold, all subscriptions that belong to that account are also put on hold. If an account is released, all its subscriptions are released. A subscription can also be put on hold individually, as described below. The subscription gets the Disabled status.
Three types of hold are introduced for a subscription only following an account hold statuses. An account can only be put on or released from Administrative Hold manually. Credit Hold can be set for an account either automatically (by the daily billing process) or manually. Subscriptions are put on hold and released automatically together with the account, no matter whether the account was put on hold manually or automatically. Therefore, subscriptions are put on or released from the type of hold that was set for the account.
For example, a subscription was put on Credit Hold, then its account was put on Administrative Hold. The subscription's status automatically became the Credit+Administrative Hold and other subscriptions of that account were put on Administrative Hold. When the account is released from the Administrative Hold, the subscription stays on Credit Hold and other subscriptions of that account are switched to the Active status.
You can put on hold only the subscriptions that have the Running service status.
An example of subscription and service statuses and when they are put on hold is shown below.
If the problem with a subscription is clarified and the issue is resolved, you can release the subscription from the hold.
