Preparing Reseller Service Plan
Preparing a reseller service plan consists of the following steps:
- Creating a reseller service plan. This task requires certain prior configuration to be done: a reseller service template, a plan category, service terms, a customer class, notification templates. There are default welcome notification templates for Power reseller and VAR. A service plan defines the refund policy used, subscription renewal settings and billing algorithm. These settings become the subscription settings after the service plan is purchased and can be configured as necessary. Other settings, such as taxation, are defined by other Billing entities, such as the customer class and service terms. These settings can not be configured from the subscription.
- Adding subscription periods. The list of subscription periods defines periods with prices offered to customers when they purchase, upgrade, or downgrade a subscription to the plan.
- Adding a domain up-sale plan. The domain subscription should be configured as an up-sale to the reseller plan. After the reseller and domain subscriptions are provisioned the domain name registered is set as the reseller subscription name.
- Publishing the reseller service plan. To display the reseller service plan in the Reseller Marketplace, it is necessary to include it and the up-sale plan in the respective sales categories.
For detailed information on creating a service plan, adding subscription periods and including the service plan in the sales category, refer to the Creating and Managing Service Plans (General Offer Management Scenario) section of the
Provider's Guide. The configured reseller service plan can be delegated (included in the reseller service template). This allows new resellers to sell it to their customers, thus building the provider's sales net.
When the required configuration is finished, proceed to the Reseller Marketplace, to test the reseller account. Subscribe to the newly created reseller service plan. Proceed with the procedure of reseller initialization described in the Getting Started with Billing – ResellerGuide.
