Adding a TXT Record

The TXT (text) record provides up to 255 characters of free form text to be linked to a domain name. The TXT record may contain any information that the owner wants to be accessible on the DNS server. TXT records linked with domain names are widely used in Sender Policy Framework (SPF) anti-forgery solutions.

To add the TXT record, perform the following operations:

  1. On the Domains page, select the domain which you want to add the TXT record to.
  2. Open the DNS tab. Select the DNS Records subtab.
  3. Click Add New DNS Record.
  4. On the displayed page, select the TXT DNS record type.
  5. Fill out the following fields:
    • Domain: enter your local domain for which you are creating the TXT record. For the main domain, leave the field blank.
    • Data: enter the text to be linked to a domain name.
    • TTL (Time To Live): set how many seconds will elapse before the record is refreshed in the DNS cache. To set the TTL, choose between Default TTL (defined by your provider) or Custom. In the latter case, specify your own TTL for the record being created.

Note: The TTL parameter can be edited later.

  6. Click Finish.
