Branding an Application

For applications with the External System provisioning type, you can specify an application URL. The branded application URL will be displayed in application Entry Points in the CCP.

For applications which have any other provisioning type, you can specify their application settings. The branded application settings will override settings specified by the provider during provisioning of an application under the appropriate brand.

Note: To be brandable, an application must support branding by declaring the appropriate settings.

Specifying the Application URL and Settings

To specify an application's URL and its settings, follow these steps:

  1. Go to System > Settings > Brands in the Branding group.
  2. Click the name of the required brand in the list, then go to the Service Branding tab.
  3. Click the Applications Branding link. The link is displayed only if there are one or more resource types created in the system of the applications which support branding.

    Note:
    1. For the application to appear in this list, you must first create a resource type based on the Application resource class.
    2. This list contains only those applications which support branding abilities.

  4. Click the name of the required application and click Edit.
  5. In the Application URL area, select one of the following options:
    • URL path of brand website: Use the <brand domain>/<suffix> format for application URL. The <suffix> parameter can be customized.
    • subdomain of brand domain: Use the <prefix>.<brand domain> format for application URL. The <prefix> parameter can be customized.
    • Additionally, you can select the SSL enabled check box to enable SSL support for the sub-domain.
    • custom URL: Use a custom application URL. The host name part of the URL must be resolved using DNS to the IP address of a host where an application UI is available.
    • no branding: Use the provider's application URL as it is.
  6. In the Application Settings area, specify the values of the application settings, which will then override the values specified by the provider.

Note: An application's settings may vary depending on the type of application. Please refer to the application's documentation to learn more.

  7. Click Submit.

Note:
1. Modification of an application URL is applied to the existing application instances of the brand immediately without their reconfiguration.
2. The changes of application settings are not propagated to all existing instances of an application which are provisioned under the brand. Only the new instances of an application will obtain the new settings. To apply the changes to the existing application instances, click Apply settings to instances, and CloudBlue Commerce will schedule tasks that apply the changes.

Installing an SSL Certificate on an Application Brand

If the subdomain of brand domain option for an application URL is selected and SSL support is enabled, CloudBlue Commerce creates an additional SSL-enabled website on a CloudBlue Commerce branding server. You can install your own SSL Certificate (self-signed or issued by a well-known CA Authority).

To learn how to prepare an SSL Certificate, refer to the Managing Certificates and User Repository section.

Note: The SSL-enabled website obtains the FrontNet IP address from the Branding IP Pool, which is configured on a CloudBlue Commerce branding server.

To install an SSL Certificate on the website, follow these steps:

  1. Prepare an SSL Certificate and the private key of the SSL Certificate. They can be stored in a text file or imported into the User Repository.
  2. In the Classic Control Panel, choose Settings under System in the left navigation menu.
  3. Under Branding, select Brands.
  4. Find and click the required brand name, then go to the Certificate tab.
  5. Choose Install new certificate to install a regular website's SSL certificate or Install CA certificate to install a special intermediate certificate. The certificate used must be in the .pem format.
  6. Select the way the SSL Certificate is assigned:
    • Repository: Allows you to select an SSL Certificate from the User Repository.
    • File: Allows you to browse for a file that contains the SSL Certificate you want to assign.
    • Clipboard: Provides the ability to use cut-and-paste to supply an SSL Certificate.
  7. Click Next.
  8. The displayed screen corresponds to the certificate location option you chose in the previous step.

If you chose the Repository option, select the required SSL Certificate from the list. The private key for the SSL Certificate will be installed automatically.

If you chose the File option, click Browse and specify the paths to the SSL Certificate and the private key files on your computer.

If you chose the Clipboard option, open your SSL Certificate and private key files, copy the file content to your clipboard and paste it into the SSL Certificate and Private Key fields respectively.

  9. Click Next.
  10. Review the information about the SSL Certificate and click Finish.
