Creating a Service Template

In CloudBlue Commerce, you can create service templates for end users and subresellers to subscribe to.

To create a new service template, follow these steps:

  1. Select Products > Service Templates.
  2. Click Add New Service Template.
  3. Specify the general parameters:

    • Fill in the form with suitable values for Name and Description. Use a name that will help you easily find the template in future. The description entered may represent features and peculiarities specific for the service template or explain its purpose. This information is only for your convenience and will not be displayed to your customers.
    • Select the Autoprovisioning check box if you want the template to be subject to autoprovisioning. This means that all the services will be created and provisioned automatically when the customer is subscribed to this service template.
    • Account-wide Services: Select this check box to create subscriptions with services in the account-wide mode. Leave the check box cleared to create subscriptions with services in the subscription-local mode. To learn more about the account-wide and subscription-local modes of services, see the Making Subscription Services Account-Wide section.

Important: If the Account-wide Services parameter is set to Yes, the service template must contain resource types for one service only. Upgrades must be configured in the same way. Source and destination service templates must contain resource types for one service only.

    • From the pop-up menu opposite the Type field, select the type of the service template being created.
  4. Each service template type is determined by a special operation sequence you must perform to define the scope of services (resource types) to sell to your subscribers.

You will usually need specify the same activation parameters that are used in the resource type to be included into the service template. You can leave the same values or enter new ones. New values specified in the service template will prevail over the values of the resource type activation parameters.

Important: For usage-based services, to ensure the correct usage calculation and billing when a customer cancels a subscription to a usage-based service, edit the service template configuration as described in Ensuring the Correct Usage Calculation for Canceled Subscriptions.
