Operations enables you to create a self-signed certificate for your domain. Note that a self-signed certificate does not provide the security guarantees provided by a CA-signed certificate.
To generate a self-signed certificate, follow the steps below:
- On the top frame, click My Profile > SSL Certificates. Click Create New Certificate in the main window.

Enter the information needed for generating a Self-Signed certificate:
Option Description Bits
Select the level of encryption of your SSL certificate by selecting an appropriate number from the drop-down menu.
Key type
For generating your certificate, the RSA private key is used.
Country
Select a country from the drop-down list.
State/Province
Specify a state or province.
Location (City)
Specify a location (city).
Organization name
Enter an appropriate organization name.
Organization Unit name
Type an appropriate department or division of your organization.
Common name
Enter the domain name for which you wish to generate the self-signed certificate.
Email
Specify an email address.
Valid from / Valid to
Define the period during which the self-signed certificate will be valid.
- After you provide the necessary information, click Next.

On the displayed page, you see two download links: Certificate and Private Key.
- For the Certificate link, click Download to download the certificate to your local computer.
- For the Private Key link, click Download to download the key to your local computer. Keep this key in a safe place, as you will need this key during the certificate installation process. Losing this key is likely to result in the need to generate another certificate.
- Click Finish.
All your keys generated or obtained by Certificate Authority certificates are stored in the user repository.
Note: If you install a self-signed certificate to the webmail server, make sure that its validity dates are not yet expired and the domain name agrees with the name in the certificate. Otherwise, your customers will not be able to log in to the server using IMAP over SSL.
