Deactivating and Activating a DNS Record

By default, every newly created DNS record is set to active, which you can deactivate manually at any time. Inactive means that the record becomes disabled but not deleted. While deactivated, it keeps all its defined settings (record type, name, IP, and TTL value) and can be easily activated at any time.

To deactivate a DNS, follow these steps:

  1. On the domains page, select the domain for which you want to deactivate a DNS record.
  2. Open the DNS tab. Select the DNS Records sub-tab.
  3. Select an active DNS record by clicking its name.
  4. On the opened screen, click the Deactivate record button. The message box opens with the following question:

Are you sure you want to deactivate this record?

  5. Confirm your intention by clicking OK in the message box. The record state will be immediately changed to Inactive, and the button name to Activate record.

To activate the record, follow the same instructions. The main difference is that when activating, you need to select an inactive DNS record and click the Activate record button.
