CloudBlue Commerce uses symmetric encryption with randomly generated keys to securely store sensitive cardholder data. In the CloudBlue Commerce database, such symmetric keys are stored encrypted using the RSA algorithm. The RSA key and the passphrase are managed by users with the KEY_CUSTODIAN privilege.
After a fresh installation, CloudBlue Commerce will not allow you to process any credit card payments if you have not yet generated and activated an encryption key.
