Manage Customer Segments
With segments it is possible to create a group of customers and define custom pricing that will only be effective for them. This allows you to have multiple pricing rules within the same marketplace.
To enable this functionality, a tenant needs to complete the following steps:
-
In UX1, go to CloudBlue Store.
-
Locate the Segment Pricing feature.
-
Click Install.
After the feature is installed, tenants, operating units and marketplace accounts can create customer segments define prices for them.
Note: Currently, pricing can only be defined for segments using price books. That is why the Smart Price Books feature is required for this functionality.
Creating Segment
To create a segment, a tenant, operating unit or marketplace account needs to complete the following steps:
-
In UX1, go to Portfolio > Prices.
-
Switch to the Segments tab and click Add segment.
-
Specify the segment name and description.
-
Choose segment type and click Add.
-
By customer. The segment will include only the selected customers.
-
By customer class. The segment will include all customers based on the customer class, including those created in the future.
-
-
Click Add accounts.
-
Select an account to choose its customers or customer classes, depending on the segment type.
-
Select all the accounts or customer classes that you wish to include in the segment. Later, you can change your selection.
Note: An account or customer class can only be included in one segment.
-
Click Add.
A segment then can be assigned to a custom price book, one segment per one price book only. Once assigned, a segment cannot be unassigned later.
Managing Segment Priority
It is possible that a customer is included into multiple segments: directly and by customer class. In such cases, Price Manager uses segment priority to decide which price to apply. Another case is when different accounts in the same account hierarchy, for example, a reseller and a customer are included in different segments. Based on the priority, Price Manager will choose the segment to define prices for all accounts in the hierarchy that are included in segments.
To configure segment priority, complete the following steps:
-
Open a segment to set its priority.
-
In the Settings tile, click Manage.
-
Type in the priority value: pricing rules from the segment with the highest number are applied.
