Configuring Budget Cap Alert Settings
You can configure Odin Automation to send email alerts if a budget set for one or several customers is spent.
You can also do the following:
- Specify the default budget cap amount. When it is reached, email alerts will be sent. This amount is applied by default to all new and existing customers.
- See a list of all staff members' email addresses where alerts will be sent.
- Change the default budget cap for one or several customers.
- Select how often to send alerts: once or daily.
- Switch alerts on and off.
- Send a test alert.
- Change the text that is sent in email alerts.
Setting the Default Budget Cap Alert
To set the default budget cap alert that will be applied to all subscriptions, perform the following actions:
- Go to Services > Applications > Azure Cloud Solution Provider > Instances > <instance name> > Alerts tab.
- In the Default Budget Alert area, you can see the current alert status. It is disabled by default. Click Enable to activate it.
- Specify the following settings:
- Budget Per Customer – upon reaching the amount of money (in basic monetary units) entered here, the alert is sent to you. This limit is applied to any single subscription.
: The amount of budget you specify here is the expected usage of your customer subscription without your markups and discounts.
- Alert Frequency – you can choose whether you want to be notified once after budget cap overuse or keep on receiving alert emails every day up to the end of the current billing period.
In the Send Email To field, you can see the list of emails the notification will be sent to. The list automatically includes email addresses of all your staff members.
- Budget Per Customer – upon reaching the amount of money (in basic monetary units) entered here, the alert is sent to you. This limit is applied to any single subscription.
- Click Save.
After switching on the budget cap alert, you can check whether it can be delivered by clicking Test.

Setting a Custom Budget Cap Alert
To set up a custom budget cap alert for one or several subscriptions, perform the following actions:
- Go to Services > Applications > Azure Cloud Solution Provider > Instances > <instance name> > Alerts tab.
- In the Custom Budget Alert area, click Add New Alerts.
- In the Set Up Alert area, specify the following settings:
Budget – upon reaching the amount of money (in basic monetary units) entered here, the alert is sent. This limit is applied to any single subscription.
: The amount of budget you specify here is the expected usage of your customer subscription without your markups and discounts.
- Alert Frequency – you can choose whether you want to be notified once after budget cap overuse or keep on receiving alert emails every day up to the end of the current billing period.
In the Send Email To field, you can see the list of email addresses where notifications will be sent. The list automatically includes email addresses of all your staff members.
- In the Select Customer Subscriptions area, mark one or several subscription to apply the custom budget cap alert.
- Click Finish.
The custom budget cap alert settings will override the default alert settings for the specified subscriptions.

Switching off an Alert for Specific Subscriptions
You can exclude a specific subscription from any alert notifications. To do it, you should first set a custom budget cap alert for that subscription, following instructions in Setting Custom Budget Cap Alert.
After that, do the following:
- Go to Services > Applications > Azure Cloud Solution Provider > Instances > <instance name> > Alerts tab.
- Mark one or several subscriptions for which you want to switch off alerts.
- Click Disable Alerts.
Now you will not receive any alerts for the specified subscriptions. You can always enable them back by clicking Enable Alerts.
Deleting a Custom Budget Cap Alert
You can delete a custom alert from any subscription. To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to Services > Applications > Azure Cloud Solution Provider > Instances > <instance name> > Alerts tab.
- Mark one or several subscriptions for which you want to delete alerts.
- Click Delete Alerts.
When a custom alert is deleted, the subscription will inherit the settings configured in the default budget alert.
