Transferring from Azure CSP 7.x to Azure NCE 1.x

Important: This documentation is for the APS-based Azure integration solution. If you are using a Connect-based Azure integration solution, please refer to the Connect documentation.

Before you can start a transfer of accounts, make sure that OAuth credentials are specified:

  1. Log in as a reseller to the Reseller Panel and go to SystemUsers > Provider Staff.
  2. Click the username of the main staff member, and then the APS Bus Access tab.
  3. Create or re-create OAuth credentials. A consumer secret is displayed only once, so copy it and store securely.
  4. Under Allowed Operations, add the following items:
    • http://www.odin.com/app/azure-csp/tenant - GET
    • http://www.odin.com/billing/order-management - POST
    • http://www.odin.com/billing/order-management - GET
  5. Go to ServicesAzure Partner (NCE) > General tab > Edit, fill in the APS Bus Access OAuth Credentials, select the checkbox Automatically verify subscriptions on import and click Save.

To transfer accounts from Azure CSP 7.x to Azure NCE 1.x, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in as a reseller to the Reseller Panel and go to ServicesAzure Partner (NCE) > CSP Customers tab.
  2. To retrieve the latest data, click Synchronize and wait until the synchronization is completed. This may take a few hours, depending on the number of subscriptions.
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the accounts that you want to transfer to Azure NCE and click Transfer to NCE.
  4. Click the NCE Customers tab. Click Synchronize.
  5. Review the list of subscriptions, and for each subscription that shows (!) Set Up in the Billing Info column, click Set Up and specify the target account, service plan, and the cut-off date for switching the billing system to a newer resource usage method. Click Save.
  6. Select the checkboxes next to the accounts that you want to transfer to Azure NCE and click Import Selected.

Note: Alternatively, if you want to import numerous accounts at once, you can click Download accounts ready for import as CSV, save the file, fill in account information manually, and use the file with the bulk_import.py script, as described in Importing Multiple Azure Subscriptions at Once.

Frequently Asked Questions

This section explains how to deal with old subscriptions in CloudBlue Commerce after switching from Azure CSP to Azure NCE.

  • Question: Do I have to disable or cancel the old CSP subscription?
  • Answer: No.

  • Question: Is there a risk that I might receive a non-zero order or invoice for the old CSP subscription?
  • Answer: Yes, you might receive one. Sometimes the calculation of Azure resource usage is delayed and reports are available only a few weeks later.

  • Question: Is it safe to have two active subscriptions upon the migration to Azure NCE?
  • Answer: Yes, both subscriptions will remain operable.

  • Question: How do I cancel or remove the old Azure CSP subscription?
  • Answer: As usual, by submitting a cancellation order.

  • Question: How long do I have to wait after migration?
  • Answer: We recommend that you keep the old CSP subscription live at least until its next billing period is completed (counting since the transfer date). Because the usage under the old subscription can be additionally collected on the Microsoft side and reported to CloudBlue Commerce, we also recommend that you configure the flow of cancellation orders in such a way that it requires reseller approval before processing. After that, the old CSP subscription can be kept live as long as the customer wants.

  • Question: Is there any impact on Azure services if the CSP subscription is cancelled soon after (for example, unintentionally by customer)?
  • Answer: There should be no impact because the old CSP subscription has the "deleted" status on the Microsoft side. This case is checked by the endpoint (starting from Azure CSP 4.5.3) and the cancellation order is processed with sending notifications to the customers and their resellers or providers.
