Requirements to Backup Nodes

A backup node must meet the following requirements:

Server Names CIVZBN

Description

Backup node. It is intended for use in the Cloud Infrastructure Automation to store backups and images of Linux containers and Windows/Linux virtual machines.

Density

Not applicable

Quantity

Number of nodes depends on the planned customer base.

OS

No OS is required.

Software

To be installed by Ingram Micro:

  • Virtuozzo 6.0 update 11 or later
  • Virtuozzo 7.0

Backup node doesn't require Virtuozzo license installation.

CPU

1 core (1.5 GHz or higher), with Intel VT-x or ADM-V hardware virtualization support

RAM

2 GB or more

Disks

Array 1:

  • Software and data

– 3 x 720 GB, SCSI, RAID 5 (hardware impl.)

The required amount depends on the size of images and backups you plan to store on the node.

Disk Partitioning

Array 1:

  • / – 12 GB
– for Virtuozzo files
  • 2 x RAM size if RAM <= 2 GB
  • RAM + 2 GB if RAM > 2 GB
– for swap
  • /vz – remaining space
– for data

NICs

BackNet

Note: Due to the architecture differences between Virtuozzo 6.x and Virtuozzo 7.x, creation of backups/images for virtual servers is possible only on backup nodes based on the same virtualization technology as the virtualization node where the virtual server is located. So, in order to have possibility to store backups and images of virtual servers located on Virtuozzo 7.x virtualization nodes, at least one Virtuozzo 7.x backup node should be registered in Cloud Infrastructure Automation.
