Backing Up and Restoring Servers
The best way to ensure that your servers are backed up regularly is to set up a backup schedule, but you can also back up servers manually whenever needed.
To back up a server:
- Go to Services > CloudInfrastructure > Virtual Servers in the Cloud Infrastructure group.
- Select the checkbox next to the servers you want to back up and click Create Backup.
To find a specific server, you can search by its name, IP address, customer owning it, or the subscription it belongs to.
To restore a server from backup:
- Go to Services > CloudInfrastructure > Virtual Servers in the Cloud Infrastructure group.
- Find the server you want to restore and click it to view its properties.
- Switch to the Backups tab to see the available backups.
- Find the backup you want to restore and click Restore to the right of it.
When you restore a server from backup, the current version of the server is overwritten with the backup version.
Note: If the server's IP address changed since the latest backup, it won't be affected: the currently assigned IP address won't be replaced.
Restore Servers from a Failed Virtualization Node
If one of your hardware nodes fails, all the servers using network storage (Virtuozzo storage cluster) will be automatically restored on one of the other hardware nodes available in your system.
However, any servers that used the failed node's local storage, should be restored manually.
To restore servers that used local storage:
- To avoid IP addresses duplication after restoring the servers, make sure that the node that hosted your servers has truly failed.
For this, go to Services > CloudInfrastructure > Virtualization Nodes, find the node that has failed, and check the State column – 'Failed' indicates that the node is not running and it's safe to restore the servers.
- Click the failed node to open its properties.
- Switch to the Virtual Servers tab to see the virtual servers that haven't been restored.
- For each of the servers you want to restore, click it to open its properties, switch to the Backups tab, and then click Restore next to the latest backup.
The servers will be restored on a different node available in the system.
