Configuring Server Hardware
This functionality is available only for servers that are created within CI Hosting subscription. If you want to change the amount of memory and number of CPUs available to your server, or otherwise modify the server's configuration, you should edit its hardware properties.
To edit the server's hardware configuration:
- Go to Services > Cloud Infrastructure > VirtualServers in the Cloud Infrastructure group.
- Find the server whose configuration you'd like to change and click it.
- On the Summary tab, click Configure Hardware in the Hardware group of settings.
- On the server configuration page, you can edit the following settings:
- CPU Cores and CPU Frequency settings: depending on how the server is used, you may want to speed up its performance by increasing the CPU cores and/or CPU frequency.
- RAM: depending on the operations performed in the server, increasing its memory may provide a better performance.
- Disk Space: use this slider to expand the disk size of the server.
Note: When you install Virtuozzo 6.0, your system is automatically configured to use the new container-in-an-image-file layout for containers. So when you create a new container, all its files are put to a single image, similar to a virtual machine's hard disk. Using containers that store all files in an image file (also known as “ploop” format) is supported only for /vz partitions formatted as ext4 (fourth extended file system). This file system reserves some disk space of container, the reserved disk space is not available for customer. Generally, the percentage of reserved disk space is up to 5%.
- Disk Storage: your server can either reside on a single hardware node by using Local Storage, or can use Network Storage which assigns this server to a group of nodes included in Virtuozzo storage cluster if this option is available in your system.
- Restart when needed: some configuration changes may require that the server is restarted. Select this option if you allow the server to be restarted once you apply your changes.
The monthly cost of using the specified configuration is displayed above these settings.
- Click OK when done.
