Configuring VPS Hosting Purchase Scenario

There is one default purchase scenario – Virtual Private Server. You can use it, modify it or create your own purchase scenario for the VPS Hosting.

The online store consists of purchase scenarios. Purchase scenario includes several screens, representing purchase steps in the online store. Depending on the screen type, it can offer selecting hosting service, additional resources, ordering domain registration, or doing the checkout and placing an order. Each screen can include several sales categories. A sales category is a kind of container, that may include one or more service plans. When a sales category is published on the store screen, all the service plans included in the category are listed in the store.

Generally, VPS ordering wizard in the online store comprises three steps:

  • Selecting virtual private server configuration.
  • Selecting domain.
  • Checkout.

To create a new purchase scenario related to VPS Hosting:

  1. Firstly, prepare screens to be included in a new purchase scenario. Create a new screen (corresponding to the first step of VPS ordering wizard) based on VPS_TEMPLATE template and include the sales category, containing VPS Hosting service plans, in it.

To do it, go to Products > Online Store. Switch to the Screens tab and click Add New Screen. Specify the Screen ID (for example, SELECT_VPS_SCREEN) and select the VPS_TEMPLATE template, click Save.

Note: The layout template defined for the screen based on VPS_TEMPLATE is loaded by the store on the configuration step of the wizard when the VPS specific parameters are chosen by a customer. The system checks whether the screen has the defined custom Layout Template option or loads the "paci_vps_options" layout template by default. The layout template defined in the VPS_TEMPLATE-based screen configuration must refer to a customized version of paci_vps_options or the whole screen will be non-working.

Screens based on DOMAINSEXTENSION template and CHECKOUT template are already created. You can just add them to your new purchase scenario.

  2. To create a new purchase scenario, go to Products > Online Store and click Add New Purchase Scenario. Specify the Title and URL ID fields. Title should be descriptive, because it is displayed in the main menu in the online store. For example, VPS and ORDERING_VPS.
  3. Select the newly created VPS purchase scenario. Click Add Existing Screen and select screens – VPS, Domain, Checkout. Click Add Screen(s).
  4. For this scenario, with help of Move Up and Move Down buttons the following order of screens can be set:

    • VPS screen – "1".
    • Domain screen – "2".
    • Checkout screen – "3".
  5. Click your VPS screen and add the sales category to it by clicking Add Existing Category.
  6. Open Products > Online Store and click Synchronize Now to apply new settings.

To verify that your settings are applied correctly, go to your online store (Products > Online Store and click your Store URL link) and in the online store choose Infrastructure > Virtual Private Servers. You will see your VPS service plans.
