VAR Reseller Case

Let's consider an example how to configure virtual server distribution across nodes for you and your VAR reseller.

You can pick out virtualization nodes to be used only for VAR reseller subscriptions and assign Cloud Infrastructure Automation provisioning attributes to those nodes. Then, you should add the same provisioning attribute to the service template which will be delegated to a reseller. Reseller’s client subscriptions will be provisioned only to the nodes specified with the corresponding Cloud Infrastructure Automation provisioning attributes. Your client subscriptions will be provisioned to all the rest of the nodes which are not marked with the Cloud Infrastructure Automation provisioning attribute for reseller. A reseller will not be able to make any changes to the delegated service template, for example, add/delete/edit resource type.

Let's imagine you have data centers in Moscow and Barcelona. Your VAR reseller is located in Barcelona. Some of your hardware nodes differ from each other by type of disks – HDD or SSD, so they are marked with HDD and SSD attributes. Some of the nodes you are planning to use for VDS provisioning, they are marked with VDS attribute. The rest of the nodes are marked with Corp attribute. Those nodes that you are planning to use only for VAR customer subscriptions are additionally marked with VAR attribute.

Provisioning of virtual servers will be made according to the following scheme.

To configure Cloud Infrastructure Automation provisioning attribute scheme for your VAR resellers, do the following:

1. Create a VAR reseller. For more information about creating VAR reseller, refer to Getting Started with Resellers Guide.
2. Create a service template for the VAR.
3. Create Cloud Infrastructure Automation provisioning attribute VAR.
4. Assign the attribute VAR to the hardware nodes dedicated for customer subscriptions of the VAR reseller.
5. Assign the attribute VAR to the VAR service template.

Now the subscriptions based on the VAR service template will be provisioned only on virtualization nodes marked with VAR provisioning attribute.
