Creating Servers

To create a new server in CCP, do the following:

  1. On the Home tab, under More Services, click Cloud Infrastructure, and then click New Server.
  2. Specify the parameters for the server, and click Next. All fields are briefly explained in the table below.
  3. Parameter Description

    Server Name

Name to be assigned to the server. The name will uniquely identify the server among other servers that you will create in Cloud Infrastructure.

A name may contain letters, numbers, and hyphens. It must not exceed 63 characters.

If you do not manually assign a hostname to the server using the Specify custom hostname option (see below), the specified name will also be used as the server hostname.

    Description

    Server description.

    Backup Schedule

    Schedule for performing server backups.

    Specify custom hostname

Set a custom hostname for the server. You can specify the hostname as a fully qualified domain name (for example, server1.example.com) or as its first portion (for example, server1).

    Remarks:

    • To make the server accessible by its hostname from the external networks, you need to choose the domain to join the server to in the Register in domain field (see below). Otherwise, only the servers from the same subnet will be able to access the server by its hostname.
    • A hostname may contain letters, numbers, hyphens, and dots. It must not exceed 63 characters.
    • If the option is not defined, the name, you set in the Server Name field, is used as the server hostname.

    Preset Configurations

List of predefined configurations. A predefined configuration contains the main server resources (number of CPU cores, CPU frequency, disk space, and so on) set to certain values.

By using a predefined configuration, you do not need to manually specify all the resources, one by one, but can choose a configuration that best meets your needs, and all the resources are automatically set to predefined values.

You can also choose a configuration that meets your needs most of all and then configure only certain parameters in this configuration.

    CPU Cores

Number of CPUs for the server.

    CPU Frequency

    CPU power of the server.

    Storage Type

Type of storage to use for storing the server content:

    • Local Storage. Store the server content on a local physical disk.
    • Network Storage. Store the server content on shared disks in a cluster. This type of storage improves your server availability and reduces the time, needed to perform certain operations in the server context (for example, resizing the server disk space).

    Disk Space

Amount of disk space, in gigabytes, to allocate to the cloud server.

    RAM

Amount of memory to allocate to the server; it must be a multiple of 4 MB.

I will manage the OS kernel

Type of server to create. You can choose to create either a virtual machine (select the option) or a container (leave the option unchecked).

    Operating System

Type of operating system to install in the server.

    Register in domain

Domain to join the server to. This field is shown only if your subscription contains the DNS hosting resource and you have registered at least one domain in the subscription.

If you do not specify a domain, only the servers from the same subnet will be able to access the server.

    Bandwidth

Guaranteed maximum bandwidth, in kilobits per second, to allocate to the server. The server bandwidth must not exceed the hardware node's bandwidth.

    Number of IPv4 addresses

Number of public IPv4 addresses for the server.

All your servers are automatically assigned private IPv4 addresses and included in a private network. The servers can access each other but do not have access to servers on other private networks and to servers on external networks, unless you assign public IP addresses to them.

    Number of IPv6 addresses

Number of public IPv6 addresses for the server.

Allow to configure the network settings from within the server

With this option selected, you can configure all network settings, except for IP addresses, from within the server.

If you do not select the option, Cloud Infrastructure will automatically assign all network settings to the server.

Currently, this option is supported for

    • Linux virtual machines and containers
    • Windows virtual machines

    Estimated Monthly Price

Price to pay each month for using the server.

Note: The shown price does include any discounts and included units, if you have any in Billing, and, therefore, may differ from the final price you will need to pay for the server.

  4. Choose the operating system (OS) to install in the server in the Edition list, and click Next. All available versions and architectures for the selected OS are listed in the Version and Architecture lists, respectively.
  5. Choose the application templates to install in your server, and click Next. All application templates compatible with the operating system you chose in the previous steps are listed.
  6. Review the parameters to use for creating the server. If you are satisfied with the entered parameters, click Finish. Otherwise, click Back, and configure the necessary parameters.

Once the server is created, it appears in the list of servers on the Servers tab. The CloudBlue Commerce Control Center also sends you an email with the credentials to access the server.
