The resources that a typical Hosted Exchange service template consists of are outlined in the table below. You can create as many service templates as you need.
When creating service templates, take the following into account:

During the deployment of the application, these service templates are automatically created:
- Sample: Hosted Exchange
- Sample: Hosted Exchange with Mailbox Types
- Sample: Hosted Exchange with Active Directory Synchronization
You can use them as examples.
- Only one Hosted Exchange Configuration Profile 'PROFILE_NAME' resource is allowed within a service template.
- You can include as many Hosted Exchange Mailbox Type 'TYPE_NAME' resources in a service template as you need. As a result, end users will be able to both create mailboxes with predefined settings and quotas which cannot be changed, and switch their mailboxes from one mailbox type to another one.
- If you are not going to provide end users with the ability to create mailboxes based on mailbox types, do not include resources such as Hosted Exchange Mailbox Type 'TYPE_NAME' and Hosted Exchange Mailbox Template 'TEMPLATE_NAME' in your service templates.

The External Directory Synchronization (EDS) service, which gives customers the ability to synchronize their Hosted Exchange organizations with their on-premise Active Directory domains, is optional. If you are not going to provide your customers with this service, either exclude these resources from your service templates or set their limits to zero:

- Hosted Exchange - AD Synchronization User
- Hosted Exchange - AD Synchronization Contact
