The Ability to Specify Taxpayer Identification Numbers Is Supported

As of the middle of October 2020, customers from some countries must specify their taxpayer identification numbers when buying Microsoft 365 services.

The countries affected by this requirement are Russia, Hungary, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.

Note: Microsoft may change the list of countries affected by this requirement.

To comply with this requirement, the application now allows customers and resellers on behalf of their customers to specify taxpayer identification numbers through UX1 for Customers and UX1 for Resellers in the Tax Registration ID field.

Customers are asked to specify their taxpayer identification numbers based on the country that they specified in CloudBlue Commerce; customers from countries that do not fall under this requirement will not be asked to specify their taxpayer identification numbers.

Warning: This ability is supported for UX1 for Customers and UX1 for Resellers only. If orders are placed for customers from the countries above not through UX1 for Customers and UX1 for Resellers, it will not be possible to specify taxpayer identification numbers. As a result, the processing of such orders will fail.

Note: To learn how to check whether specifying a taxpayer identification number is required for a customer account and how to specify it through the application's REST API, please refer to the Microsoft 365 Integration Guide >> Scenarios > Creating a Microsoft 365 Subscription and a New Microsoft Account.
