Creating Service Plans for Software Subscription Licenses

For every software subscription license that you are going to provide, you must create a separate service plan.

Before creating service plans for software subscription licenses, consider the following:

  • Each Microsoft 365 application instance must have its own set of resources, service templates, and service plans.
  • A service plan for a software subscription license must be based on a specific service template that contains resources of software subscription licenses (see Creating a Service Template for Software Subscription Licenses for details).
  • In a service plan for a software subscription license, the Microsoft 365 (Software Subscription License) service terms must be specified in the Service Terms setting (see Creating Service Terms for Software Subscription Licenses for details).
  • If you need to send your customers email notifications about Microsoft 365 subscription provisioning, either use the Welcome e-mail - Office 365 system notification template or prepare your own notification template. Then, specify it in the Notification About Service Provisioning setting of this service plan. Please refer to the Billing Provider Guide to learn more about notification templates and their configuration.

Note: The contents of a notification template are the same for both CCP v1 and UX1 for Customers.

  • It is not possible to upgrade from one software subscription license to another software subscription license.
  • A customer account can be subscribed to several Microsoft 365 service plans. However, only one organization is created in the Microsoft cloud for this customer account. This enables customers to use licenses from different subscriptions.

To create a service plan for a software subscription license, use the example below as a template.
