Migrating Between Modules of Odin Automation > Migrating from Linux Shared Hosting to WebHosting Linux > What Happens During Migration
What Happens During Migration
- The migration tool removes from Linux Shared Hosting subscriptions all services that are not supported by WebHosting Linux, or which would make migration impossible: AWStats web statistics, Urchin web statistics, and legacy web apps.
- The content of websites is transferred from a Linux Shared Hosting node to a Web Cluster NG Shared Storage server or a Web Server NG local file system.
- The settings of websites, such as SSL certificates, FTP users, and PHP versions are updated. At this stage, subscriptions become unavailable.
- Websites on exclusive IP addresses are switched to shared IP addresses and the web cluster or server IP addresses are updated. After that, the types of IP addresses assigned to webspaces are changed back to exclusive, thereby returning the freed IP addresses to the attached IP pools. Shared IP addresses of websites from the source host are replaced with shared IP addresses from the target host. After that, the websites that used exclusive IP addresses are switched back to exclusive IP addresses: new IP addresses are allocated from IP pools attached to the target host.
- DNS reconfiguration tasks are scheduled automatically.
- Subscriptions become available at the WebHosting Linux host.
- Subscriptions’ service plans are switched in Billing from Linux Shared Hosting plans to WebHosting Linux plans. When changing a plan for a subscription from Linux Shared Hosting to WebHosting Linux, a change order will be created in Billing. If there is a difference in resource allotments or subscription periods between plans, some charges might be reflected in an invoice.
- In the end of migration, the content of websites is synced again.
- Customers' backups are migrated to the target node or cluster. Note that backups can be migrated only if they are stored on a Linux-based server.
