What Happens During Migration

  1. Migration Manager runs a series of checks to determine whether the source system and webspaces are ready for migration. After that, it starts migrating webspaces one by one.
  2. Access to webspaces over SSH and FTP is restricted, and the content of webspaces is transferred from a source server or cluster to the target server.
  3. The hosting settings of webspaces are changed: Webspaces on exclusive IP addresses are switched to shared IP addresses. Shared IP addresses of webspaces from the source node are replaced with shared IP addresses from the target node. The webspaces that used exclusive IP addresses are switched back to exclusive IP addresses: New IP addresses are allocated from IP pools assigned to the target node.
  4. DNS reconfiguration tasks are scheduled automatically.
  5. Webspaces of users are removed from the source node and access to the migrated webspaces over SSH and FTP becomes available again.
  6. Webalizer is reconfigured to work with the migrated webspaces on the new WebHosting Linux servers.
