Creating Resource and Sales Categories

Create resource categories for your Microsoft 365 resources:

  1. Go to Products > Resources and select the Resource Categories tab.
  2. Click Add New Resource Category.
  3. Specify properties of this resource category and click Add.

For instance, create the following resource categories:

  • For resources that represent recurring licenses and add-on recurring licenses:

    • Additional Licenses
    • Additional Mailboxes
    • Exchange Add-Ons
    • Skype for Business Add-Ons
    • Online Analytic Add-ons
    • Extra Storage
    • Other Add-Ons
    • Dynamics Add-Ons
    • Extra Instances
  • For resources that represent software subscription licenses and perpetual software licenses:

    • Software Subscriptions
    • Perpetual Software

After creating all necessary resource categories, distribute your Microsoft 365 resources among the created resource categories.

Create sales categories for your Microsoft 365 service plans:

  1. Go to Products > Service Plans and select the Sales Categories tab.
  2. Click Add New Sales Category.
  3. Specify properties of this sales category and click Save.

After creating all necessary sales categories, distribute your Microsoft 365 service plans among the created sales categories.
