Placing a Late Renewal Order
When an Adobe VIP Marketplace subscription reaches its Anniversary Date with auto-renew disabled, the subscription enters a temporary grace period. This guide explains how to manually reactivate these subscriptions within the allowed window.
How the Grace Period Works
Upon expiration, Adobe updates the subscription as follows:
-
Status: Set to Inactive (1004).
-
Access: End-customers retain access to Adobe services for a limited time.
-
Action: A manual renewal order is permitted via the CloudBlue Classic Panel or through CloudBlue Connect (for Connect-only distributors).
Important: By default, CloudBlue allows a 13-day period for late renewals (configurable via the PPR Service Terms). Once this period or Adobe’s internal grace window expires, the subscription is permanently decommissioned and cannot be recovered.
Eligibility & Business Rules
A late renewal will only succeed if all the following conditions are met:
-
Status: The subscription is currently Inactive (Status 1004).
-
Permissions: Adobe’s Allowed Actions include MANUAL_RENEWAL.
-
History: No prior renewal order has been processed for the current term.
-
Configuration: Auto-renew was set to False at the time of the anniversary date.
-
Failure to meet these rules: The renewal will be rejected, and the customer must place a New Purchase (starting a new term) to restore service.
Implementation Options
Option 1: CloudBlue Commerce (Classic Panel)
-
Navigate to Billing > Subscriptions.
-
Locate the expired Adobe VIP Marketplace subscription (Status: Hold/Expired).
-
Open the General tab and click Renew Subscription.
-
Choose the period and click Next.
-
Review the order details and click Place Order.
-
The connector validates eligibility. Upon success, the subscription is re-enabled in both Adobe and CloudBlue.
Required PPR Configuration
To support this, ensure your Product Program Resource (PPR) file contains Service Terms with these settings:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Grace Period | 0 days |
| Hold Period | 13 days |
| Destroy Service after Hold Period | Checked |
| Trial Grace Period | 0 days |
| Trial Hold Period | 0 days |
| Trial Destroy Service after Hold Period | Checked |
Important: Ensure that the Service Terms 0/13 are created and configured on the platform in accordance with the PPR settings.
Option 2: CloudBlue Connect (for Connect-only Distributors)
You can place a late renewal order from the Connect Distributor Portal, by completing these steps:
-
Go to the Subscriptions module in the Connect Distributor Portal and use the available filters to find the subscription.
-
Click the asset ID, expand the Actions menu and click Renew.
-
Follow the wizard steps and click Create Renew Request.
-
The connector will automatically approve the request if the status is 1004 and MANUAL_RENEWAL is available.
Notes and Limitations
-
This feature only applies to Adobe VIP Marketplace subscriptions.
-
Late Renewals are constrained by Adobe’s own grace window and rules. Once Adobe decommissions the subscription, renewal is no longer possible.
-
If auto‑renew is on and the subscription is already active (1000), the renewed CloudBlue subscription will not generate an additional Adobe renewal order.
