Currency Exchange Rates and Billing in Azure NCE
The billing currency exchange rate is determined by converting the end customer's local currency (as defined by Microsoft) into the currency configured in the Cloud Marketplace Platform (CMP), which is set by the distributor. These exchange rates are retrieved via API.
Microsoft publishes the official currency exchange rates used for consumption-based costs at the beginning of each month. When invoices are generated, the Azure NCE connector applies these published rates to convert costs into the marketplace currency.
For Azure NCE, pricing is originally based in USD and then converted into different currencies. Microsoft provides exchange rates for approximately 160 global currencies. Azure NCE Connect enhances this process with the following capabilities:
-
Manual override of Microsoft’s published exchange rates.
-
Custom exchange rate definition for currencies not included in Microsoft’s list of 160 supported currencies.
To perform the actions above you must configure the usage_exchange_rate_list as outlined in the Distributor Portal Configuration Guide.
