Configuring Product Margins for Google Cloud Platform on CloudBlue Commerce

To configure product margins as a provider or reseller, it is necessary to configure the Price Management on CloudBlue Commerce. First, it is necessary to create an attribute named v.reseller_margin and configure it with the margins provided by Google for the different scenarios or products. For example, the margin provided by Google for transfer scenarios is 5%. For certain types of products, different margins are provided. For example, a 7% is provided for support products and a 5% for non-standard products. The standard margin continues to be 14% and the margin for marketplace products is 0%.

Note: The percentages specified above are subject to the particular contract between the provider and Google.

Once these values have been specified in the v.reseller_margin attribute, you can configure your own margin as a provider, as well as the reseller's margin.

To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the provider or reseller control panel and click Price Management.

  2. Select the Google Cloud plan for which you would like to configure margins; in this example, it is "Google Cloud SP".

  3. Select the Price Rated Model and click Save.

  4. In the Rating Attribute tile, click Create to add a rating attribute.

  5. Enter the following attribute name: v.reseller_margin and specify the following attribute values:

    • 0: This value will be assigned to marketplace products with no margins.

    • 5: This is the margin assigned to transfers, and from January 1, 2024, to non-standard products.

    • 7: Margin assigned to support products.

    • 12: Margin assigned to non-standard products until December 31, 2023. From January 1, 2024, a 5% will be applied to non-standard products.

    • Empty: When the attribute has no value, a standard 14% will be assigned.

      Note:
      - The attribute name must be v.reseller_margin, because it needs to match with the connector's code.
      - The values above are subject to the contractual relationship between the provider and Google.

  6. Click Edit margins to specify the total margin, your own margin and the reseller's margin for each of the possible values of the v.reseller_margin attribute. For example, you can configure this so that when the value of the v.reseller_margin attribute is empty, the total margin is set to 14%, your own margin is set to 14% and the reseller's margin is set to 0%, as shown in the sample image above.

Additional Required Configuration of Margins for New Resources in PLM-based Deployments

In PLM-based deployments there are additional resources that require the configuration of margins. The names of these resources have the following format: "(Product Name) - Dynamic Usage". For example: “GCP - Dynamic Usage”. Please make sure to configure margins for these resources if you use PLM to avoid revenue impact to your resellers.
