Configuring a Credit Rule
Credit rules allow you to configure the credit split percentage for the customer and the reseller, and the period when the rule will be applied. To create a credit rule, complete the following steps:
-
Go to the Rules tab and click Add rule.
-
Enter the credit rule name and the credit description.
Important: When there are several rules whose conditions match and therefore could be applied, the credit rule description is the first criterion that will be considered when choosing the rule that will be applied. The credit description specified will be matched the descriptions of AWS credit lines. If the credit description specified matches the description of the credit line in AWS, the rule will have a higher priority over other rules with different descriptions. If you do not want to specify a credit line description, you can leave the field blank. After the credit rule description, the following criteria will be considered when choosing the rule to apply: customer context, reseller context service context and the creation date, as described in steps 5, 6 and 7.
-
Enter the credit split percentage for the customer and the reseller.
-
Specify the Rule Applicable Period, if necessary.
-
Specify the customer context that will be considered to apply the credit rule. You can click All to apply the rule regardless of the customer involved in the transaction, Only selected to apply the rule when the selected customers are involved in the transaction, or Only excluded if you wish to apply the rule except when the specified customers are involved in the transaction.
Note: In this case, "involved in a transaction" means that AWS has allocated the credit to that customer as per CUR "usageAccountID".
-
Specify the reseller context that will be considered to apply the credit rule. You can click All to apply the rule regardless of the reseller involved in the transaction, Only selected to apply the rule when the selected resellers are involved in the transaction, or Only excluded if you wish to apply the rule except when the specified resellers are involved in the transaction.
-
Specify the service context that will be considered to apply the credit rule. You can click All to apply the rule regardless of the service involved in the transaction, Only selected to apply the rule when the selected services are involved in the transaction, or Only excluded if you wish to apply the rule except when the specified services are involved in the transaction.
-
Optionally, you can add a credit rule note.
-
Review the credit rule details and click Close. If you need to change any details, you can click the pencil icon to modify the rule at any time if necessary.
For a credit rule to be applied, all the rule conditions must be met. As there may be several credit rules whose conditions match and therefore could be applied, the following priorities will be considered when applying credit rules:
-
Priority 1: If the rule description matches the description of the credit line in AWS, the rule will have the highest priority (1).
-
Priority 2: If the customer involved in the transaction is the customer specified in the rule, such rule will have priority 2.
-
Priority 3: If the reseller involved in the transaction is the customer specified in the rule, such rule will have priority 3.
-
Priority 4: If everything else matches, the rule with the most recent creation date will be used.
