Enabling APS-Based Hardware Node Management (Optional)

Enabling APS-based hardware node management is optional. It can be used if you are planning to use OpenVZ nodes in your infrastructure for VPS Hosting scenarios. In this case, you need to enable registering such nodes in system settings:

  1. In OA Operations control panel, go to System > Settings > System Properties.
  2. Click Edit at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Find the Cloud Infrastructure Disable Hardware Management in Service Controller option and enable it.

This option switches Cloud Infrastructure Automation hardware node management from service controller to APS-based Cloud Infrastructure Automation component. After enabling this option, the process of Cloud Infrastructure Automation nodes registration and management is changed and done in Services > Cloud Infrastructure > Infrastructure. You will be able to register OpenVZ nodes in Cloud Infrastructure Automation. You will be able to manage your existing nodes in the new improved interface.

Important: Be aware that once you switched to the APS-based hardware node management and have registered a new node using the new interface, there is no way to switch to the HW node management by Cloud Infrastructure Automation service controller.

  4. On the management node, restart pa-agent and pau services:

    service pa-agent restart
    service pau restart

In the current document, we will consider scenarios when the Cloud Infrastructure Disable Hardware Management in Service Controller option is enabled. If you need the instructions for registering Cloud Infrastructure Automation nodes via the UI that was managed by Cloud Infrastructure Automation service controller, refer to the Cloud Infrastructure Deployment Guide 17.12.
