Preparing Mailbox Types

A mailbox type is a set of predefined mailbox settings and quotas, such as settings defining which access protocols are enabled and mailbox size quotas. Mailbox types can be used to provide end users with the ability to create pre-configured mailboxes whose mailbox settings and quotas cannot be changed.

In this version of the Hosted Exchange application, mailbox types are created on mailbox templates of the Hosted Exchange module, and are shown in read-only mode.

You can create as many mailbox types as you need. For instance, if you need mailboxes with different quotas on mailbox size, you can create individual mailbox types.

Creating a Mailbox Type

To create a mailbox type, follow these steps:

  1. Create a mailbox template using the instructions provided in the MS Exchange Hosting Guide >> CloudBlue Commerce Hosted Exchange Configuration > Managing Hosted Exchange Objects > Managing Mailbox Templates > Creating Mailbox Template.
  2. Go to Services > Applications and select the APS Connectors tab.
  3. Click on ExchangeApplication.
  4. Click on the application instance that you need.
  5. Select the Exchange tab. Then, select the Mailbox Types subtab.
  6. Click Synchronize Mailbox Types.

Updating a Mailbox Type

  2. Click on the mailbox template that the mailbox type is based on.
  3. Modify the settings that you need. Then, click Apply Changes to Mailboxes. As a result, the changes will be applied to the mailboxes that are based on the mailbox template: The mailboxes will be updated both on the side of the system database and on the side of Microsoft Exchange Server.
  4. Go to Services > Applications and select the APS Connectors tab.
  5. Click on ExchangeApplication.
  6. Click on the application instance that you need.
  7. Select the Exchange tab. Then, select the Mailbox Types subtab.
  8. Click Synchronize Mailbox Types. As a result, the changes from the mailbox template will be applied to the mailbox type (this will be done on the side of the APS controller).
  9. Click on the mailbox type.
  10. Click Apply Changes to Mailboxes. As a result, the changes from the mailbox type will be applied to the mailboxes that are based on the mailbox type (this will be done on the side of the APS controller).

Important: End users may experience problems when working with mailbox types if the mailbox types are not properly synchronized.
