Preparing Resources

The resources necessary for selling Hosted Exchange services are shown in the table below. All of them are automatically created during the deployment of the application, except for resources of configuration profiles and mailbox types; you need to create these manually for the configuration profiles and mailbox types that you prepared.

This resource represents an instance of the Hosted Exchange application.

  • Recommended limit: 1
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: no counterpart
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service Reference
    • APS type: ExchangeApplication
    • APS resource: application instance

Hosted Exchange Organization

This resource represents Hosted Exchange organizations of end users.

  • Recommended limit: 1
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Hosted Exchange
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is On)
    • APS type: Organization

Hosted Exchange Configuration Profile 'PROFILE_NAME'

This resource represents sets of settings and quotas of organizations. See Preparing Configuration Profiles for details.

  • Recommended limit: 1
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: no counterpart
  • One and only one resource type must be created for each configuration profile:

    • Base resource class: Application Service Reference
    • APS type: ConfigurationProfile
    • APS resource: configuration profile 'PROFILE_NAME'

Hosted Exchange Domain Services

This resource represents links between domains and the Hosted Exchange service. It controls how many domains end users can link with the Hosted Exchange service.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: E-mail Domains
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: ExchangeDomainService

Hosted Exchange Mailboxes

This resource represents mailboxes. It controls how many mailboxes end users can create in their organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Mailboxes
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: Mailbox

Hosted Exchange Mailbox Type 'TYPE_NAME'

This resource represents a type of mailbox. It controls how many mailboxes of a specific type end users can create in their organizations. See Preparing Mailbox Types for details.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Hosted Exchange Mailbox Template 'TEMPLATE_NAME'
  • One and only one resource type must be created for each mailbox type:

    • Base resource class: Application Service Reference
    • APS type: MailboxType
    • APS resource: mailbox type 'TYPE_NAME'

Hosted Exchange Contacts

This resource represents contacts. It controls how many contacts end users can create in their organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Contacts
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: Contact

Hosted Exchange Distribution Lists

This resource represents distribution lists. It controls how many distribution lists end users can create in their organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Distribution Lists
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: DistributionList

Hosted Exchange Resource Mailboxes

This resource represents resource mailboxes. It controls how many resource mailboxes end users can create in their organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Resource Mailboxes
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: ResourceMailbox

Hosted Exchange Public Folders

This resource represents public folders. It controls how many public folders end users can create in their organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Public Folders
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: PublicFolder

Hosted Exchange Public Folder Permissions

This resource represents public folder permissions. It controls whether end users are allowed to manage public folder permissions.

  • Recommended limit: Unlimited (if the limit on Hosted Exchange Public Folders is set to a non-zero value) or 0 (if the limit on Hosted Exchange Public Folders is set to 0)
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: no counterpart
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: PublicFolderPermission

Hosted Exchange Disclaimers

This resource represents disclaimers. It controls how many disclaimers end users can create in their organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 1 or more
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Company Disclaimers
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: Disclaimer
Hosted Exchange - Disk Space This resource represents disk space. It controls how much disk space can be allocated and used in organizations.
  • Recommended limit: Unlimited or a positive number (kilobytes).
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Disk Space
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Counter (KB)
    • Resource: diskspace
Hosted Exchange - AD Synchronization Configuration

This resource represents configurations of the External Directory Synchronization (EDS) service. It controls whether the EDS service can be activated in organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 0 (if you do not need the EDS service) or 1 (if you need the EDS service)
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Active Directory Synchronization
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • Base resource class: Application Service (Automatically provision service is Off)
    • APS type: AdSyncConfiguration

Note: You can set the limit on this resource to zero, or omit this resource from your service template.

Hosted Exchange - AD Synchronization User

This resource represents users synchronized from on-premise Active Directory domains of customers. It controls how many of these users can be created by the EDS service in organizations.

  • Recommended limit: 0 (if you do not need the EDS service) or Unlimited (if you need the EDS service)
  • Replaces resource from Hosted Exchange module: Active Directory Synchronization
  • One and only one resource type must be created:

    • APS type: AdSyncUser

Note: You can set the limit on this resource to zero, or omit this resource from your service template.

Hosted Exchange - AD Synchronization Contact

This resource represents contacts synchronized from on-premise Active Directory domains of customers. It controls how many of these contacts can be created by the EDS service in organizations.
