Licenses Change Scheme on Service Plan Upgrade
This subsection describes the order of licenses (and licenses features) change in case a service plan is upgraded.
Note: the scenarios described below are related only to Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and Plesk 9 for Virtuozzo licenses and features. Resource upgrades are pre-configured in Billing by default for these licenses. If default resource upgrade configuration has been changed, then automated licenses upgrade (as described below) is not performed.
Scenario 1. Licenses change in case upgrade is configured from License 1 to License 2.
Service plan 1 provides License 1.
Service plan 2 provides License 2.
The upgrade scheme differs for the cases, when a License belongs to a service plan as 'Included' resource or 'Not Included' resource.
The Table below shows how licenses are changed if service plan 1 is upgraded to service plan 2. In all cases License 1 is upgraded to License 2, however, upgrade is charged differently.

Scenario 2. Licenses features change in case features upgrade is configured.
Note: The principle of licenses' features upgrade is: always keep the existing capacity of license feature or, if possible, upgrade to a better one.
In this paragraph we describe a most illustrative use cases connected with license features upgrades. Charge scheme is similar to licenses: if a feature is included in a new service plan, it is not charged, if a feature is not included in a new service plan – it is charged.
Use Case 1.
Service plan 1 provides License 1 with:
- Feature 1, for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and 10 Plesk domains.
Service plan 2 provides License 1 with:
- Feature 2, for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and 100 Plesk domains.
If service plan 1 is upgraded to service plan 2, Feature 1 is upgraded to Feature 2:
- If Feature 2 is included in service plan 2, then customer is not charged for Feature 2.
- If Feature 2 is not included in service plan 2, then customer is charged for Feature 2.
Use Case 2.
Service plan 1 provides License 1 with:
- Feature 1, for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and 10 Plesk domains.
Service plan 2 provides License 1 with:
- Feature 1, the same Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and 10 Plesk domains.
If service plan 1 is upgraded to service plan 2, Feature 1 is kept in customer subscription after upgrade:
- If Feature 1 is included in service plan 2, then customer is not charged for Feature 1.
- If Feature 1 is not included in service plan 2, then customer is charged for Feature 1.
Use Case 3.
Service plan 1 provides License 1 with:
- Feature 1 (included in service plan), for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and 10 Plesk domains,
- Feature 2, (not included in service plan), for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and 30 Plesk domains,
-
Feature 3 (not included in service plan), for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and Unlimited Plesk domains.
In this case, customer has already upgraded the included 10 domains to Unlimited domains for additional charge since this feature is not included in service plan 1.
Service plan 2 provides License 1 with:
- Feature 2, (included in service plan), for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and 30 Plesk domains,
- Feature 3 (not included in service plan), for example Plesk 8 for Virtuozzo and Unlimited Plesk domains.
If service plan 1 if upgraded to service plan 2, Feature 3 with unlimited domains will be kept. Customer will be charged for Feature 3 in new service plan 2.
