Configuring SSL Connection to Websites

In CloudBlue Commerce, you can make your web pages available by secure SSL connection. The SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol encrypts the information that a web browser and a web server exchange with each other. Using the secure SSL protocol is an industry standard for e-Commerce and online service websites, where visitors submit their credit card numbers and other sensitive data.

Note: You can make your web pages available by SSL protocol (https://), if this is allowed in your subscription.

Under Apache web hosting, SSL connection is configured for a Webspace.

If the SSL service is allowed, depending on the type of IP address your website (Webspace) has, you have the following options:

  • For a website (Webspace) with Shared IP address – using the "shared" SSL Certificate registered for the provider's SSL proxy (used for the whole web server). For details on enabling SSL Proxy on a website (Webspace), refer to the corresponding section for Apache web hosting.
  • For a website (Webspace) with Exclusive IP address – using a separate SSL Certificate registered for a website (Webspace). To use this option, you need to obtain SSL Certificates from a Certification Authority (CloudBlue Commerce partially automates the process) or register self-signed SSL Certificates. Read the subsections below to know how you can get SSL Certificates and store them in your User Repository.
