This guide contains all necessary information on the upgrade of CloudBlue Commerce to version 20.5.
The upgrade of the CloudBlue Commerce involves upgrading the two groups of system components: CBC Platform and CBC Service Nodes.
The CBC Platform group includes the following components:
- OSS MN (Management Node),
- OSS MN DB (Management Node Database),
- BSS APP (Billing Application),
- BSS DB (Billing Database).
The CBC Service Nodes group includes miscellaneous components other than CBC Platform. They can be:
- UI nodes,
- Online Store,
- Service-specific nodes: DNS nodes, WebHosting Plesk nodes, etc.
If an unsuccessful upgrade attempt occurs, you can rollback CBC Platform to its initial operating state, that is, the pre-upgrade state.
The ability to rollback the CBC Platform does not require CBC Service Nodes backups. You can rollback CBC Platform until beginning of CBC Service Nodes upgrade:
Important: When performing CBC Platform rollback, it is recommended to back up upgrade log files: they will help you to understand reasons for the unsuccessful upgrade attempt.
Upgrade Procedure Steps
The upgrade procedure consists of the following steps, which must be performed in the order listed:
Note: For a faster upgrade across several CloudBlue Commerce versions to version 20.5, we recommend that you use the cumulative upgrade scenario.
- Verify that your system configuration meets the prerequisites.
- Complete the pre-upgrade actions (if required).
- Run the precheck and fix any configuration errors.
- If you use UX1 Marketplace, be sure to upgrade it to version 3.1.2 or later before upgrading CloudBlue Commerce to version 8.3.
- If you use WebHosting Plesk, be sure to upgrade all service nodes to Plesk 17.8.
- Upgrade CBC Platform.
- Upgrade CBC Service Nodes.
Important: Starting from Odin Automation 7.4, the Cloud Infrastructure Automation service has a separate release cycle and it is upgraded separately by means of the
oaci_update.pyscript. The upgrade procedure is described here. -
Complete the post-upgrade actions that are applicable to your CloudBlue Commerce installation.
Important: The upgrade of CBC Platform and CBC Service Nodes must be performed within a single maintenance window.
